Mosaic Blog
Bright Eyed and Bushy-Tailed
The consultants have finished presenting the product overviews to our core team, and after a long and refreshing break we have, as planned, hit the ground running...
With the start of the new year we have begun to configure our first build, beginning with Academic Structure and Campus Community. The effective dating functionality within PeopleSoft has already taken us into the future, because we will be able to reduce the number of address types in our system from 14 to 5. This will help the institution to more clearly define each type of address and how it is used, which in turn will help us keep the data more accurate and clean.
Our team is fully engaged in the effort; it has been interesting so far to observe the interactions and cooperation of its functional and technical members. They have all been eager to contribute, and no one is shy about expressing her or his opinion on a particular topic. All in all this bodes well for the future, and it should lead to a thorough understanding of how the university works in detail. Our mornings are spent as a whole group, learning and sharing information with a consultant leading the implementation. Then after a break for lunch we do detailed configuration in smaller groups and prepare for the next day's review and continuation.
Postus Interruptus
Where HAVE my blog posts gone?! I wonder myself and when I was asked yesterday by a colleague of mine I wondered even more.
Some Tentative Detail
...just catching you up on what I know to date about how I think our implementation is being implemented. All of this is subject to change of course, but I'll let you know if it does.
Inked!
Not me. The contract for the Student Administration consultants! We are going to call them today to see who can show up on the 3rd of November and begin to get the show on the road...
Ok. The phone call went well. We will have a small contingent from them here the week of November 3rd to get a clear picture of the methodology we will use for implementation. While we are at it we will get the statements of work and project plans prepared so we can submit them to ATOC/ABOR for their approval.
You may have noticed that I haven't said the name of the firm. We have a new Communications Manager and I don't want to steal her thunder, so I am going to wait until the formal press release comes out. But I'm very pleased with how the process went.
If I don't post this now it may be several days before I have the opportunity to do so; so here goes.
