The 14th Annual Technologies Showcase takes place on May 7, 2009, in the Integrated Learning Center (ILC) of The University of Arizona.  The Showcase takes place in the morning and features hands-on sessions for D2L functions, presentations by Professors Chris van den Berg and  Jay Rochlin and Mosaic Project's Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) and the new Research Administration, Human Resources and Financial System. In the afternoon from 1 to 3pm UITS will host an open house that will let us highlight some of our services and give people a chance to see the new configuration of the Computer Center building.  You will get to check out the new Gear to Go location, AZ Live, the Virtual Reality Annex, the LTC and OSCR labs.  Please stop by either both the morning and afternoon, or just one. Meeting the staff of UITS helps to put a human face on our many computing services. More information on both of these is available at http://ltc.arizona.edu/lts/2009/schedule.htm as well as the chance to sign up for specific sessions and tours.

And much like any analysis of under-supply and over-demand, those able to register are happy, while those who aren't are furious. However, the utility (or disutility) in either case is drastically different. One group graduates on time as "expected," while the other must bear the explicit costs of additional semesters and the implicit opportunity costs of lost potential wages.
